Cheltenham Triathlon Club
For experienced and aspiring triathletes

Just 19 weeks after giving birth to her first child, Cheltenham Triathlon Club member Katie Blackbird completed the gruelling Vitruvian Triathlon at Rutland Water on Sunday.

Raising over £1000 for Acorn's Childrens' Hospice along the way, Katie completed the 1.9km open water swim, 84km bike ride and half marathon in only 6 hours and 20 minutes, 10 minutes faster than she dared expect.

"It was an amazing day" said Katie, even though the swim was so foggy you couldn't really see where you were going, and we were told to "just head for the sun!".

Four other members of the club competed alongside Katie. Paul Wakefield just missed his target of five hours, completing the course in 5:02:41. Steve Yarnold was very pleased with his time of 5:20:45, as was Kevin Ord with 5:33:43. Clive Duffy completed the course in 5:43:31.
