Cirencester Duathlon

The "right sort of mud" compared to last year contributed to some fast times by those racing on Sunday - this year the course had a slippery surface but the mud was less deep and glutinous.

In the glorious setting of Cirencester Park the off-road Duathlons consist of a 2 mile cross country run (all off road) followed by a 10 mile MTB bike (all off-road) and finishes with a second 2 mile cross country run (or 1-5-1 in the shorter single lap event). The bike ride is two laps on undulating, wooded trails with a grass section beside the Polo pitches. An unusual feature of this event is the top class loos in the middle of nowhere, with wallpaper and hot running water (as used by the Polo players and royalty allegedly).

The title for best fall of the day was retained for the 2nd year running by the Carroll family, with Dawn this year the wettest finisher after falling into the deepest puddle on the course.

First man home for the Club was Gwyn Williams nearly 10 minutes quicker than last year, and first lady was Sue Bathgate, also winning the 50+ ladies trophy by just 16 seconds.
